The fiesta has gotten off on the right foot, with a tribute to Mexican cinema icon Meche Carreño, who was enthusiastic and visibly moved during the ceremony held in her honor at the Teatro Angela Peralta in San Miguel de Allende. And so the twelfth Expresión en Corto short film festival got underway.
The festival will continue from July 24 to 28 in San Miguel de Allende, and from July 29 to August 2 in the state capital of Guanajuato.

Sarah Hoch awarded Meche Carreño the festival's Silver Cross, which each year is given to film luminaries for their career achievements.
Shortly before the event at the theater, the actress led a parade through the streets of the city of San Miguel de Allende, which incidentally was recently named a World Heritage Site. The ceremony was brought to a close with a toast to celebrate the commencement of this important festival.
